SECTION 4 FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS
Flash Point (Method): None Explosive Limits: Lower None Upper None
Flammable Limits: None Auto Ignition Temperature: None
Extinguishing Media: Water spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide or alcohol resistant foam.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures and Hazards: Wear chemical protective clothing and positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus. Approach upwind to avoid toxic vapors. Use water spray to cool fire-exposed containers.
Unusual Fire & Explosion Hazards: Can react with some metals to form flammable hydrogen gas.
SECTION 5 REACTIVITY INFORMATION
Stable: X Unstable: Hazardous Polymerization: Occurs: Does not Occur: X
Conditions to Avoid: Contact with water may cause a violent reaction with evolution of heat. Always add acid to water with agitation to dilute.
Materials to Avoid: Metals, Strong oxidizing or reducing agents. Sulfides. Sulfites. Strong bases. Fluorine. Sulfur trioxide. Phosphorous pentoxide.
Decomposition Products: Toxic vapors. Phosphorous oxides. Can form hydrogen gas on reaction with some metals. Mixing with strong bases can cause high heat of reaction to form steam.

SECTION 6 HEALTH HAZARDS PROTECTIVE MEASURES FIRST AID
Carcinogen: No
EYES: Causes severe irritation and burns with possible permanent damage. . Wash thoroughly with water for 15 minutes. Use chemical goggles when handling this product. Get immediate medical attention.
SKIN: Can cause severe skin irritation and burns. Contact may not produce an immediate burning sensation delaying awareness of damage occurring. Use neoprene or rubber gloves and apron when handling this product Wash thoroughly with water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention.
INHALATION: Mist or vapors can cause severe irritation and burns of the respiratory system. Remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. Get immediate medical attention.
INGESTION: Corrosive to the mouth, esophagus and mucous membranes with severe irritation and burns with possible severe damage resulting in death. . Drink large amounts of water. DO NOT induce vomiting. Get immediate medical attention. PHYSICIAN NOTE Use of gastric lavage is controversial. Advantage of removal of acid must be weighted against risk of perforation or bleeding. If >1 mg/kg of body weight is ingested, cautious gastric lavage is generally advised if the patient is alert and there is little risk of convulsions. Laryngeal edema may develop requiring intubation or tracheostomy. Consultation with a gastroenterologist or surgeon is advised.
IN ALL CASES: GET PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IF ADVERSE EFFECTS PERSIST
PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY: Skin, eyes, inhalation, ingestion.
HYGIENE: Wash
hands and face before eating or drinking.
SECTION 7 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, STORAGE AND USE
SPILLS AND LEAKS: Evacuate unprotected personnel. Maintain good ventilation. Use personal protective equipment. Do not exceed the occupation al exposure limits. Contain spill to prevent loss to the environment. Collect excess material. Flush residual material to a sanitary sewer after neutralizing with soda ash or lime. Do not allow discharge to sewers or surface waters.
STORAGE AND HANDLING: Keep containers tightly closed. Store in a well ventilated, cool area, out of direct sunlight. Do not freeze. Store away from incompatible materials. Avoid contact with the eyes, skin and clothing. Use with adequate ventilation. Do not breath vapors or mists. Wash thoroughly after handling.
WASTE DISPOSAL: Follow recommendations of local, state and federal regulations.
EMPTY CONTAINERS: Replace and firmly tighten closures. Send to a recycling center or return to Wausau Chemical Corporation.
