SECTION 6 HEALTH HAZARDS PROTECTIVE MEASURES FIRST AID
Carcinogen: No
EYES: Can
cause moderate to severe eye irritation with injury that can be slow to heal.
In the event of contact flush with water for 15 minutes. Use chemical goggles
when handling this product. Get medical attention if symptoms develop.
SKIN: Can
cause skin irritation on repeated or prolonged contact, especially under moist
conditions. Use neoprene or rubber gloves and apron when handling this product
Wash thoroughly with clean water if contact occurs. Get medical attention if
symptoms develop.
INHALATION: Dust
can cause irritation of the respiratory system.
INGESTION: Toxicity
is low but may cause gastrointestinal irritation and ulceration. Drink large
amounts of water. Induce vomiting. Get medical attention.
IN ALL CASES: GET
PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IF ADVERSE EFFECTS PERSIST
PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY: Skin, eyes,
inhalation, ingestion.
HYGIENE: Wash
hands and face before eating or drinking.
SECTION 7 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, STORAGE AND USE
SPILLS AND LEAKS: Contain
to prevent loss to the environment. Collect excess material. Flush the residual
material to a sanitary sewer.
STORAGE AND HANDLING: Keep
containers tightly closed. Calcium chloride will collect moisture and
liquefy. Store at cool
and dry conditions. Use cool water when putting into solution as
reaction with water is exothermic.
WASTE DISPOSAL: Follow
recommendations of local, state and federal regulations.
EMPTY CONTAINERS: Replace
and firmly tighten closures. Send to a recycling center or return to Wausau
Chemical Corporation.
