SECTION 6 – HEALTH HAZARDS – PROTECTIVE MEASURES  – FIRST AID

EYES:              Mild eye irritant. Use chemical goggles when handling this product. In the event of contact flush with water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if symptoms develop.

 

SKIN:              Can cause skin irritation such as dermatitis on repeated or prolonged contact. May aggravate existing skin conditions. Use neoprene or rubber gloves and apron when handling this product Wash thoroughly with clean water for 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Launder before reuse. Get medical attention if symptoms develop.

 

INHALATION:           Mist or vapors can cause irritation of the respiratory system and to the eyes. May cause headache, dizziness, anesthesia, drowsiness, unconsciousness, and in some cases death. Remove victim to fresh air. Perform artificial respiration if not breathing. Keep calm. Get medical attention immediately.

 

INGESTION:              May cause mild to severe pulmonary injury including death if aspirated into respiratory system. Do Not induce vomiting. Get immediate medical attention.

 

IN ALL CASES:          GET PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IF ADVERSE EFFECTS PERSIST

 

PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY:      Skin, eyes, inhalation, ingestion.

 

HYGIENE:      Wash hands and face before eating or drinking. Wash soiled clothing before wearing again if contact occurs.

SPILLS AND LEAKS:            Contain to prevent loss to the environment. Collect excess material. Prevent liquid from entering all waterways.

 

STORAGE AND HANDLING:           Keep containers tightly closed. Store at ambient temperatures.

 

WASTE DISPOSAL:              Follow recommendations of local, state and federal regulations.

 

EMPTY CONTAINERS:        Replace and firmly tighten closures. Send to a recycling center or return to Wausau Chemical Corporation.
