SECTION 4 – FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS
Flash Point (Method): None Explosive Limits: Lower 8% Upper 10.5%
Auto Ignition Temperature: 788oF
Extinguishing Media: For surrounding fire use water spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide or alcohol resistant foam
Special Fire Fighting Procedures and Hazards: Wear chemical protective clothing and positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus. Approach upwind to avoid toxic vapors.
Unusual Fire & Explosion Hazards: Trichloroethylene can be ignited with intense heat, such as, sparks and flames, or at high temperatures and pressures.
SECTION 5 – REACTIVITY INFORMATION
Stable: X Unstable: Hazardous Polymerization: Occurs: Does not Occur: X
Conditions to Avoid: Avoid contact with aluminum equipment. Aluminum–catalyzed decomposition gas can rupture confined areas in the equipment with explosive force.
Materials to Avoid: Avoid alkali and alkaline earth metals, (sodium, potassium, and barium) Do not mix with caustic soda, caustic potash, or oxidizing materials.
Decomposition Products: Hydrogen chloride and traces of phosgene.

SECTION 6 – HEALTH HAZARDS – PROTECTIVE MEASURES – FIRST AID
Carcinogen: No
EYES: Severe eye irritant. Use chemical goggles when handling this product. In the event of contact flush with water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if symptoms develop.
SKIN: Can cause skin irritation on repeated or prolonged contact. Prolonged exposure may cause skin defatting, severe dermatitis, and chemical burns. Use neoprene or rubber gloves and apron when handling this product. In the event of contact wash with water for 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing. Get medical attention if symptoms develop.
INHALATION: Mist or vapors can cause depression of the central nervous system. Higher concentrations can result in eye, nasal, or respiratory tract irritation, and or death due to cardiac arrhythmias. Remove victim to fresh air. If not breathing, perform artificial respiration. Get immediate medical attention.
INGESTION: A small amount ingested is practically nontoxic. Excess amounts could cause gastrointestinal disturbances and depression of the central nervous system. Drink large amounts of water. Do Not induce vomiting. Get immediate medical attention.
IN ALL CASES: GET PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IF ADVERSE EFFECTS PERSIST
PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY: Skin, eyes, inhalation, ingestion.
HYGIENE: Wash
hands and face before eating or drinking.
SECTION 7 – PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, STORAGE AND USE
SPILLS AND LEAKS: Ventilate area. Wear eye, skin, and respiratory protection during cleanup. Absorb and shovel liquid into waste container; cover and remove from area. For larger spills, dike area and soak up with absorbent. Prevent loss to environment. Keep from waterways and sanitary sewers.
STORAGE AND HANDLING: Keep containers tightly closed. Store in a cool and dry location.
WASTE DISPOSAL: Follow recommendations of local, state and federal regulations.
EMPTY CONTAINERS: Containers retain product residue. Keep away from heat, sparks and flames. Don not weld or use cutting torch near container. Do not use container for any purpose other than storage and shipment of original product. Make sure containers is completely empty. Send to a recycling center or return to Wausau Chemical Corporation.
