SECTION 4 FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS
Flash Point (Method): 144oF tag C.C. Explosive Limits: Lower 7% Upper 70%
Auto Ignition Temperature: 788oF
Extinguishing Media: Water spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide or alcohol resistant foam.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures and Hazards: Wear chemical protective clothing and positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus. Approach upwind to avoid toxic vapors. Cool containers with water.
Unusual Fire & Explosion Hazards: Combustible material which can enhance a fire.
SECTION 5 REACTIVITY INFORMATION
Stable: X Unstable: Hazardous Polymerization: Occurs: Does not Occur: X
Conditions to Avoid: Material is stable when properly handled. Keep away from heat. High temperatures form methanol, formic acid or methylals. Low temperatures cause self-polymerization to form paraformaldehyde.
Materials to Avoid: Avoid contact with phenol, strong acids, alkalis, and hydrochloric acid.
Decomposition Products: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide

SECTION 6 HEALTH HAZARDS PROTECTIVE MEASURES FIRST AID
Carcinogen: Potential cancer hazard. Rats chronically exposed to 14 ppm contracted nasal cancers. Not currently regulated as a carcinogen.
EYES: Causes chemical burns. Use chemical goggles when handling this product. Wash thoroughly with clean water for 15 minutes, holding eye lids apart to ensure proper irrigation Get medical attention immediately.
SKIN: Can
be harmful if absorbed through the skin causing. Can cause
skin irritation on repeated or prolonged contact. Use neoprene or rubber
gloves and apron when handling this product
INHALATION: Harmful if inhaled. Can cause irritation of nose, throat and lungs, and can cause depression of the central nervous system. Use full face piece respirator when handling product. Remove to fresh air. If not breathing perform artificial respiration. Get medical attention immediately.
INGESTION: Corrosive to the mouth, esophagus and mucous membranes. Ingestion may cause blindness, depression of central nervous system and death. Drink large amounts of water. Do Not induce vomiting. Get immediate medical attention.
IN ALL CASES: GET PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IF ADVERSE EFFECTS PERSIST
PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY: Skin, eyes, inhalation, ingestion.
DELAYED HAZARDS: Prolonged exposure can produce reproductive disorders. May cause lung or liver and kidney damage. Pre-existing respiratory disorders may be aggravated. May cause blindness and death if ingested.
HYGIENE: Wash
hands and face before eating or drinking.
SECTION 7 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, STORAGE AND USE
SPILLS AND LEAKS: Wear appropriate protective equipment. Eliminate all ignition sources. Ventilate area. Contain to prevent loss to the environment. Collect excess material. Absorb and collect residual material and dispose of according to local, state, and federal requirements.
STORAGE AND HANDLING: Keep containers tightly closed. Store between 55 to 100 oF. Low temperatures create degradation of the product.
WASTE DISPOSAL: Follow recommendations of local, state and federal regulations.
EMPTY CONTAINERS: Rinse with water. Replace and firmly tighten closures. Store away from excessive heat or ignition sources. May contain explosive vapors. Do not cut, puncture , or weld on or nearby. Send to a recycling center or return to Wausau Chemical Corporation.
