SECTION 1 - MATERIAL IDENTIFICATION
NAME: GLYCOLIC
ACID-70%
FORMULA: HOCH2COOH M.W. = 76.05
SYNONYMS: Hydroxyacetic Acid; Hydroxyethanoic acid
MANUFACTURER: DuPont Chemical Corp
SECTION 2 - HAZARDOUS
INGREDIENTS
Glycolic Acid 79-14-1 62.865.7% N/A NO
Water 7732-18-5 30% N/A NO
The total acid concentration is 70-72% with a typical free acid of 62,8-65.7%. At high concentrations, free glycolic acid exists in equilibrium with low molecular weight, polyester oligomers. Upon neutralization, dilution, etc., these components revert to free glycolic acid.

Do Not induce vomiting. Get immediate medical attention.
IN ALL CASES: GET PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IF ADVERSE EFFECTS PERSIST
PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY: Skin, eyes, inhalation, ingestion.
HYGIENE: Wash
hands and face before eating or drinking.
SECTION 7 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, STORAGE AND USE
SPILLS AND LEAKS: Contain to prevent loss to the environment. Neutralize spill with soda ash or lime. Flush area with plenty of water. Collect excess material. Flush neutralized material to wastewater treatment plant.
