SECTION 6 – HEALTH HAZARDS – PROTECTIVE MEASURES  – FIRST AID

 
 

 


Carcinogen:      Not a carcinogen

 

EYES:              Extreme irritant to the eyes. Use chemical goggles when handling. In the event of contact flush with water for 15 minutes. Get immediate medical attention if symptoms develop.

 

SKIN:              Corrosive to the skin. Use neoprene gloves and rubber apron. In the event of contact wash for 15 minutes with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing. Seek medical attention if irritation develops.

INHALATION:           Inhalation of fumes is extremely irritating to the mucous membranes. Get to fresh air. Use adequate ventilation when using this product.

 

INGESTION:     Ingestion causes extreme irritation to membranes of mouth, throat and will cause stomach pain and ulceration.  DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Drink large quantities of milk or gelatin solution if available otherwise water. Get medical attention immediately.

 

IN ALL CASES:          GET PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IF EFFECTS PERSIST

 

PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY:      Skin, eyes, and inhalation, ingestion

 

HYGIENE:      Wash hands and face before eating or drinking. Wash soiled clothing before wearing again if contact occurs.

 

SECTION 7 – PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, STORAGE AND USE

 
 

 

 


SPILLS AND LEAKS:            Contain if possible. Dilute with large quantities of water.  Keep to windward when exposed to fumes.

 

STORAGE AND HANDLING: Most metals are rapidly attacked by sodium hypochlorite.  Store in well-ventilated, cool, dark area.  UV light should be excluded during storage.  Vented caps should be used.  

 

WASTE DISPOSAL:    In accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

 

EMPTY CONTAINERS:        Rinse with water. Make sure caps and bungs are tight. Send to a recycler or return to Wausau Chemical Corporation.
