SECTION 6 – HEALTH HAZARDS – PROTECTIVE MEASURES  – FIRST AID

Carcinogen:      No

EYES:              Liquid or high vapor concentrations are highly irritating. Use chemical goggles when handling this product. In the event of contact flush with water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if symptoms develop.

SKIN:              Can cause skin irritation on repeated or prolonged contact. Use neoprene or rubber gloves and apron when handling this product In the event of contact flush with water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if symptoms develop.

INHALATION:           Mist or vapors can cause drowsiness or irritation. Avoid high vapor concentrations. If symptoms develop remove to fresh air. Treat symptomatically. Get medical attention.

INGESTION:              Expected to be a low ingestion hazard. Get medical attention if symptoms develop.

IN ALL CASES:          GET PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IF ADVERSE EFFECTS PERSIST

PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY:      Skin, eyes, inhalation, ingestion.

HYGIENE:      Wash hands and face before eating or drinking. Wash soiled clothing before wearing again if contact occurs. Do not wear contaminated shoes.

SECTION 7 – PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, STORAGE AND USE

SPILLS AND LEAKS:            Eliminate all ignition sources. Contain to prevent loss to the environment. Absorb with vermiculite or other dry material. Collect excess material. For larger spills, use water spray to disperse vapors and to dilute to non-flammable mixture. Prevent runoff from drains, sewers, and waterways.

STORAGE AND HANDLING:           Keep containers tightly closed. Store in well-ventilated area, away from heat, light and ignition sources. Do not cut, drill, grind, or weld on or near containers. Do not expose to air. After opening container purge container with nitrogen before reclosing. Periodically test for peroxide formation on long-term storage. If peroxide formation is suspected, do not open or move container. Do not distill to near dryness. Addition of water or appropriate reducing materials will lessen peroxide formation.

WASTE DISPOSAL:              Follow recommendations of local, state and federal regulations.

EMPTY CONTAINERS:        Replace and firmly tighten closures. Keep away from ignition sources. Residual vapors may explode on ignition. Do not cut, drill, grind, or weld on or near empty containers. Send to a recycling center or return to Wausau Chemical Corporation.
