SECTION 6 HEALTH HAZARDS PROTECTIVE MEASURES FIRST AID
Carcinogen: No
EYES: Can cause severe irritation, redness, tearing, blurred vision. Use chemical goggles when handling this product. In the event of contact flush with water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if symptoms develop.
SKIN: Prolonged or repeated contact can cause moderate irritation, defatting, dermatitis. Wash with soap and water. Wear protective neoprene gloves. In the event of contact wash thoroughly with soap and water. Get medical attention if symptoms develop.
INHALATION: Excessive fumes can cause nose irritation, throat irritation, headache, dizziness, nausea, drowsiness, fatigue, weakness, light-headedness, giddiness and stupor. Remove to fresh air and call physician. Use a NIOSH approved respirator where there is not adequate ventilation to keep fume concentrations below the PEL limit.
INGESTION: Can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Aspiration of material into lungs can cause chemical pneumonitis which can be fatal. Seek medical attention immediately.
IN ALL CASES: GET PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IF EFFECTS PERSIST
PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY: Skin, eyes, inhalation, ingestion.
HYGIENE: Wash hands and face with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing.
SECTION 7 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, STORAGE AND USE
SPILLS AND LEAKS: Contact proper authorities. Ventilate area. Use proper protective equipment. Small spills, mop, wipe, or soak up with adsorbent. Put material into drums. Large spills, stop leak at source, prevent spreading, pump to good drums and absorb remaining liquid with sawdust or vermiculite absorbent and sweep into a closed container for disposal.
STORAGE AND HANDLING: Keep away from heat, sparks, fire and direct sunlight. Provide electrical grounding for containers and equipment when handling this product. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. Never use pressure to empty container. Store in a dry, ventilated area. Empty container may be hazardous; it may contain vapor and residues. Do not cut, drill or weld on or near containers. Do not store in copper tanks.
WASTE DISPOSAL: Dispose of in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations through a licensed disposal facility.
EMPTY CONTAINERS: May be hazardous due to vapors or residues. Send to a recycler or return to Wausau Chemical Corporation.
