SECTION 6 HEALTH HAZARDS PROTECTIVE MEASURES FIRST AID
Carcinogen: No
EYES: Mild
eye irritant. Symptoms may include stinging, watering, redness and swelling.
Flush with water for 15 minutes while holding eyelids apart in the event of
contact. Get medical attention if symptoms occur. Use chemical goggles when
handling this product.
SKIN: Can cause skin irritation on repeated or prolonged contact. Symptoms may include redness, itching, drying, swelling, blistering, cracking, and severe tissue damage. Wash thoroughly with soap and water, while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Can be absorbed through the skin and produce central nervous system (CNS) depression. Use neoprene or rubber gloves and apron when handling this product. Get medical attention if symptoms persist.
INHALATION: Excessive concentrations of mist or vapors can cause irritation of the respiratory system as well as euphoria, excitation or giddiness, headache, nausea, vomiting abdominal pain, loss of appetite and CNS depression at high concentrations. Provide adequate ventilation. Remove victim to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, perform artificial respiration. Get immediate medical attention.
INGESTION: Can cause irritation of the mucous membranes. Readily absorbed by the stomach and intestinal tract with nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, loss of consciousness, delirium and CNS effects. DO NOT induce vomiting. If spontaneous vomiting occurs, place victims head below knees to avoid aspiration to the lungs. Get immediate medical attention.
IN ALL CASES: GET PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IF ADVERSE EFFECTS PERSIST
PRIMARY ROUTES OF ENTRY: Skin, eyes, inhalation, ingestion
HYGIENE: Wash
hands and face before eating or drinking.
SECTION 7 PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING, STORAGE AND USE
SPILLS AND LEAKS: A spill or leak can cause an immediate fire/explosion hazard. Eliminate ignition sources. Contain to prevent loss to the environment. Collect excess material. Prevent from entering sewers or waterways.
STORAGE AND HANDLING: Keep containers tightly closed. Store away from heat or combustion sources. Ground containers and equipment containing this material. Store in well-ventilated area.
WASTE DISPOSAL: Follow recommendations of local, state and federal regulations.
EMPTY CONTAINERS: Tighten closures. Keep away from ignition sources. Empty containers contain residues that can ignite with explosive force. Send to a recycling firm or return to Wausau Chemical Corporation.
